For example, if you see someone “walking his opponent down” or “stalking,” what that essentially means is that they are controlling the engagement and forcing their opponent out of the center of the ring–and thus, they’re probably winning. On the flip side, if one fighter is “boxing off the back foot” well, they are constantly angling away from their opponent and not allowing them to get into a good punching position. Generally, if you watch a fighter’s feet, you will get an idea of who is in control in the match.","Why should you watch the feet in a boxing match?",{"_uid":893,"answer":894,"question":895,"component":670},"758e07bf-4a35-4c9e-8aea-30e863a9591b","No. The idea here is that some punches are worth more to the judges than others. If one fighter lands ten feathery jabs with no pop or power behind them, and then halfway through the round, the other boxer lands a massive right hand that staggers their opponent, chances are that the judges will notice the latter more (and you will too.) Big punches are not technically worth more in the official rules of boxing, but frankly, we all know that the punches that matter are the ones that get noticed. That isn’t to say you can’t win a boxing match by throwing light punches and having a stellar boxing defense, but it's a general unspoken rule that power punches, specifically clean power punches, matter more than zoning punches.","Are all punches equal in a boxing match?",{"_uid":897,"answer":898,"question":899,"component":670},"5a835fe1-c2b6-48c5-b1ce-79676cfeca6d","The “30-30” Rule is a boxing strategy that was used by Sugar Ray Leonard in order to cash in on his speed. The basic rule of thumb is that if a fighter can win the first 30 seconds and last 30 seconds of a round, there is a good chance they will win the round on at least one judge’s card. This is because the beginning and the end of a round are what people tend to notice the most. The Motivation\n\nThe music. The instructors. The energy. Those elements are contagious. Even though the instructors can’t see me, I know Flo, Tommy, Hitman, etc. would be disappointed if I just stopped and quit. I honestly have kept going because of an instructor talking to me through my TV – sounds stupid saying it out loud, but you will know what I mean if you take a few classes.\n\n2. The Workouts.\n\nI actually got my heavy bag a few weeks before I decided to try Fightcamp. I figured, boxing is a great idea and I’ve done it before, so do I really need someone to guide me through workouts when I know what to do?\n\nWhen I was on my own, I’d do some light jump rope, situps or planks, then I’d hit the bag for a few rounds and call it a day. It felt pretty good. But then, I did some Fightcamp workouts. I was dripping sweat and exhausted.\n\nBeing a somewhat experienced boxer and generally in pretty good shape, I tried jumping straight to a 45-min intermediate workout, but quickly scaled back to work my way back up to those. The workouts are tough and the mix of boxing stuff and ground stuff is what makes it so good. On my own, I tend to just hit the bag over and over again and end up doing way less core/legs. I needed someone to tell me to do that or I’d slack.\n\n3. The Tracking.\n\nDid I mention I’m ultra competitive? Being able to hit a punch target or beat my last score is motivating. Nowadays, it almost feels like if I don’t track my workout, then it doesn’t count. I’m excited to see even more features on historic workouts and tracking improvement – and I am sure the FightCamp team is working on some great stuff.\n\n4. The Convenience\n\nI work from home and share a car with my wife, so it is nice and easy to be able to turn on a workout anytime. I can throw on a 15 or 30-minute workout during my lunch hour. Buttrick bought her first pair of boxing gloves and found a trainer in London where she worked as a shorthand typist by day and trained at night.\n\n“I was small, but I was mean,” Buttrick told The Miami Herald in a 1998 interview.\n\nButtrick began her boxing career in 1948, touring Europe as a bantamweight in the boxing booths of carnivals before coming to North America in 1952. Also known as “Battling Barbara,” she fought professionally in Canada and the U.S. before moving to Dallas, TX in 1957.\n\nBy the time Buttrick arrived in Texas, she had fought over 1,000 bouts with men, as well as 18 professional women’s fights.
