Hey everyone, I'm Khalil Zahar, co-founder and CEO of FightCamp. I'm excited to share a brand-new feature we've been developing: Technique Workouts. This feature is paired with a new metric called Accuracy to give members a new way to focus in on form with real time feedback.

In a typical FightCamp workout, the combo display at the bottom of the screen is passive, meaning it doesn't track if you perform the punch combinations correctly. That's perfectly fine when you're focused on speed, power, and getting a good physical workout.

However, to truly improve at boxing and martial arts, focusing on your technique is essential. That's why, when you select a Technique Workout, the combo display component becomes active. It will track every punch you throw to ensure you execute them correctly, giving you immediate feedback on your execution.

During a Technique workout, each punch in a combination is categorized into one of three outcomes:

  • Green – Perfect

The correct hand, thrown with proper form.

  • Yellow – Good

The correct hand was thrown, but the form needs refinement.

  • Red - Miss

    The wrong hand was thrown.

This three-level feedback system is designed to guide you as combinations are thrown, similar to how a coach would work with you on mitts. Only Green/Perfect punches are rewarded with output, yellow and red are not. The more accurate punches you throw, the higher your points go up, which is representative of your level of technique.

Accuracy is a new FightCamp metric available in your post workout data breakdown in technique workouts.

Accuracy % = Perfect Combos ÷ Total Combos Thrown

You’ll see Accuracy results:

  • Between rounds during the workout

  • In a detailed breakdown within post-workout data tabs

Technique workouts are intentionally paced more deliberately than conditioning or competitive sessions. The goal is to slow things down just enough so you can focus on:

  • Clean mechanics

  • Correct sequencing

  • Proper punch paths

That said, don’t mistake controlled pacing for easy. These workouts are still physically demanding, and maintaining good form under fatigue is part of the challenge.

This mode of training fosters an element of necessary frustration, because improving technique means acknowledging mistakes, accepting imperfect reps, and making adjustments in real time. That friction is where real progress happens.

During Technique workouts, FightCamp trainers will actively cue adjustments, call out common errors, and encourage you to refine your movement. Over time, those corrections compound into cleaner execution, better rhythm, and stronger fundamentals.

Training with proper form delivers real results:

  • Generate more power

  • Increase punch and combination speed

  • Improve balance and coordination

  • Reduce injury risk

  • Move more efficiently with less wasted motion

  • Look and feel better

Common Technique Mistakes

Many boxers feel like their technique is perfect, until it’s measured. Here are a few common mistakes:

  • Hands dropping between punches

Because the bag doesn’t punch back, many people let their hands fall instead of returning to guard. This causes punches to start from a low position, which is poor form and may register as an incorrect punch.

  • Hooks vs. uppercuts

Uppercuts require the elbow to stay tucked with a vertical punch path. Hooks require the elbow to lift while the fist travels around the side. When these mechanics blur, the trackers may correctly identify the punch as something other than what was called.

Pro tip: Use a mirror to glance at your form occasionally, or make a video so that you can assess your technique and correct mistakes next time.

Launch Details & Compatibility

  • Technique workouts, enabled with Accuracy, are live now in the FightCamp app

  • Accuracy is available only on the Console + TV experience

  • Users can complete Technique workouts with Gen1 trackers, but the hardware is not compatible with the Accuracy feature

  • Technique workouts completed with Gen1 trackers will not appear on Technique leaderboards

Technique workouts aren’t about perfection, it’s about progress. Show up, make mistakes, and refine your technique. See ya in the FightCamp app!
